Octave Mandolin - Irish Bouzouki
-
new
guitar-shaped bouzouki
- The 22" or 22.875" scale length version yields a good compromise between single-note playability and string tension and tone
- The 24.625" long scale version joins the body at the 17th fret for excellent open chord sound combined with up-the-neck playability
- Tuned GDAE either can be played as an octave mandolin
- The instrument top and back are not carved but both have a 10' radius
curve to resist the considerable downward force on a tailpiece instrument
- The top arch results in a high 3/4" string height at the bridge
resulting in an optimal transfer of string energy to the top
- Light weight Schaller gold mandolin 4-on-a-plate tuners are standard
which results in an instrument that is not neck heavy
- The Allen cast bronze tailpiece
accepts both ball-end and loop-end strings a more versatile choice of string guages
- The instrument has a Spruce or California Redwood top and a wide choice of
back, sides, and neck wood
